Transitioning Memories

From the narrow corridors of our schools to the wide ever-hysterical passages of our college. Life sure takes one hell of a roller coaster ride.
Missing the friends we have had for as long as we can remember to the enticing new bonds forged.  Between the concerned class-teacher to the funny-talking professor, between the hustle-bustle of the school canteen to the crowded chat-wallah in front of our college; WE GREW UP.
It’s a rather fascinating transition- Growing up. The changes, the emotions, the anticipation, the excitement- everything, rolled into one bittersweet package called life.
All that time spent bunking in the canteen, the playing football with a tennis ball on the basketball court, the frivolous walks on the school campus (in and out ;-)), the standing outside the class – which was more of a playtime than a punishment, the rush you felt when you answer correctly amid your red-faced friends, the pumping hormones when you look around and you see your crush’s face. Everything becomes a cherished memory- a long-lived dream you wish never ended. Days well spent; time worth the archives at the back of your mind.
Because who remembers the 20/20 on a math test?
We remember our school days for those plays we were in- where we didn’t know our lines until the last moment, for the tests we forgot about (saved only by the seating arrangement and the “bathroom breaks”) , for finishing our Practical files on the last day of submission, for the terrifying principal ( & her minions) who’d make rounds during our bunks.
We remember it for being the backbenchers – making fun of the teacher’s weird accent and pretending to write when they looked at us or swooning at that one ‘pataka’ teacher.
For that fun field trip- whose best part would always be the bus trip, or that boring seminar spent playing tic-tac-toe with your best friend.
As we transition into this wild and unknown territory called college, we look back at these days and smile for we had a BLAST on this crazy, beautiful adventure. And hopeful eyes look forward to a crazier and more beautiful odyssey that awaits us.
It’s scary. Yes. But it’s also exciting, and as a college student, I assure you that you will have the time of your lives here.

So lower your inhibitions and pack your bags, folks. Because you are in for another adventure. J
